Roger Brierley
Committee Member, in memoriam
Born in Stockport, Roger first watched United on April 7th 1947 (beat Leeds 3 - 1!) at Maine Road, when Old Trafford was still a bomb site.
Roger trained in Manchester as Chartered Accountant and after National Service left accountancy to train at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, whereupon he became a professional actor. Amongst other work, Roger has appeared in over 250 films and television programmes.
Roger was a season ticket holder and member of both SU and IMUSA since their inceptions. He was SU-AM's founding Treasurer and Convenor, with Michael Crick and Jonathan Michie in May 1999. Roger was elected Financial Director when SU became a company limited by guarantee and continued in this role until he stepped down in 2004. Elected to Committee in 2005 Roger server as our archivist and occasional dissenting voice, whilst vying with fellow committee member, Eric Halsall, for the title of SU/MUST's No 1 Grumpy Old Man!
Roger passed away in September 2005 and we miss him dearly. Please read about our Rog here.
