We do need to see a copy of the Death Certificate and a grant of probate/letters of administration before we can release any funds so that we know we are releasing the funds to the legally entitled beneficiary. If you are not sure what to do we recommend you speak to your solicitor or if you are not using one please contact your local Citizen's Advice Bureau.

For info: What is a grant of probate/letters of administration? A legal document which allows the person or persons named in it to collect in and distribute the estate (property, money, possessions etc.) of the deceased. Probate is the process of officially proving the validity of a will, but this applies equally where the deceased died without leaving a will in which case the grant is called 'letters of administration'.
