99 Questions to Cubic Expression from Manchester United fans…
Saturday 7th Feb 2004
Shareholders United (SU) and the Independent Manchester United Supporters’ Association (IMUSA) have been compiling a dossier of information on Cubic Expression’s John Magnier and JP McManus, having been inundated with unsolicited information about the pair’s past business dealings as well as their personal and political affairs.
Cubic say that as MU plc’s largest single shareholder they are entitled to full disclosure and greater transparency and they demanded answers to 99 Questions, to which the Club has now responded.
Shareholders United spokesman Oliver Houston said:
“United supporters have 99 Questions of our own to ask Cubic. As the largest shareholders they stand to make the most from selling out in the event of a takeover and they currently cream off the lion’s share of the dividend pay-outs. The value of Manchester United and the profits it generates come directly from the pockets of loyal fans. So, we are entitled to know exactly who these people are, where they came from and what it is they expect to achieve by waging this ‘dirty war’.
“Coolmore means Big Quiet Place – but we’re demanding that they break their silence and tell us exactly what it is they’re up to.
“We have been inundated with some potentially very explosive information in the last few weeks and whilst Cubic pay corporate investigators, we get all this for free. The formidable network of United fans spans the globe and we have been contacted by people from the worlds of finance, politics, journalism, law - and, of course, racing. There are also a great many United fans in Ireland who, like us, cannot abide what’s happening to our club and have been offering their invaluable assistance.
“Surely Cubic can’t have expected all the traffic in this battle to be one way? They have no cause to feel aggrieved that the spotlight is now falling on them. From the outset we said we sincerely hoped that the feud didn’t escalate, for their sake as well as the Club’s. Our dossier is on its way to Cubic and we will share the contents of it with other relevant parties in due course. We hope that they’ll give us honest answers to each of our 99 questions.
“Our Club has been no stranger to tragedy and turmoil over the years. But, as always, we shall keep the red flag flying high.”
